Meet Winter
Hey there! I can't wait to meet you, let's be friends!
Before we become BFF's let me tell you a bit about who I am. You'll quickly realize I'm just a mama like you, trying my best to be a kind human and raise kind humans! I am a mama to Brandon who is 18, I still don't know how that is possible! And to Rachel who is 14. As my children have gotten older I've realized how precious it is to capture the sweet moments of childhood and family! I've been married to my high school sweetheart for nearly 22 years.
My heart beats fast for relationships, I love meeting new people and learning who they are. I love capturing relationships and pausing time because I know just how fast it flies by! How quickly children grow tall and ready to leave the nest. How fast time slips by and a loved one only exists in photos. How in one breath your spouse has smooth skin and the next the sweet crinkles appear as they laugh and tease you.
This past year as the calendar rolled past my 40th birthday, and the days continued to slip by, I reflected back on this business. What purpose God has planted me here for? Everything I do is for the glory of the Lord, my creativeness is His gifting. My love of words and color, His gifting. I want this years trip around the sun to contain more of all of that!
This little business is a complete God dream. I have always loved photography and when my children were born, the love grew deeper. I never thought it would be possible to make it a career, but in 2008 I stepped out on a limb and the business started growing. I was still working a full time office job as well. At the beginning of 2011 I opened my own studio in Wabash and it felt like an impossible dream come true! A few short years later, the building my studio was in sold, and I decided it was a good time to step away from the business. It was consuming me. My time, my family life, I had lost who I wanted to be.
After a couple years spent finding my priorities again, I returned to photography in the spring of 2017. Now that I'm back my style reflects my priorities, the details of life. Laughter, crinkled noses, the love a grandparent looks at a grandbaby with, a mama looking in awe at her grown up babies, the true moments of life that deserve to be paused I want to capture.
As I update this little corner I have here, it's caused me to reflect back to when I operated a blog and wrote words that needed shared in the world many years ago and the time feels right to do that again. Through the lens and through the pen my art can be found here.
